awhile back i reviewed 'out like a lion', the lead single from brother earth's (the collaboration between legendary producer todd tobias [GBV] and steve five [the library is on fire]) new album 'positive haywires'. now the whole thing is available on hidden shoal recordings and it is great. the entire record does not hew too close to the dark freak folk of 'out like a lion', varying from that sound to moments of classic off kilter ohio-style indie rock power-pop, and everything in between. some of my favorite such moments are the tunes 'cortez the cuddler' and 'sunny side of the street'.
