ekstasis - the book of longing

ekstasis is an experimental 'devotional' folk band from one of my favorite cities, olympia, washington. their music is mystical in its sound and scope, blending the drama of celtic folk sounds with some progressive, psychedelic and new wave elements.

there are reminders of pentangle and the folky side of jethro tull, as well as the sweeping, driving momentum of fantasy film scores. the songs stretch out into evocative expanses of ecstatic (as the name implies), mind-expanding psych-folk. check out their new album 'book of longing' below:
