helicopter spies is a collaboration between welsh DIY songwriter
ash cooke (who you know from
pulco) and his old bandmate
dave hirst from
derrero, a band that saw some success in the 90's. the preview song ash sent me, '
feed the flashback', is a catchy psych rock ode to re-living the old times and glory days but absolutely not taking it too seriously.
the result is pretty good, with crunchy guitars and a gleeful refrain that expresses the joy of making the music you want to hear with great friends for its own sake. the song ends with rock'n'roll screams and laughter.
