nettlesmith - cookin' in satan's kitchen

'cookin' in satan's kitchen' by UK duo nettlesmith starts out with a pretty memorable lyric: 'well bury all what's left of the racoon we ate for supper'. it goes on to talk about how you better bury him deep or he'll wake up and dig. nettlesmith is an earthy band like that, dealing in the dark mystical side of nature.

i especially like the haunting lyrics of the tune 'willow man', an exploration of the european/pagan tradition of the 'green man', some kind of primordial forest god. the production is simple; an acoustic guitar, keyboard touches and another instrument, sometimes an electric guitar providing a hint of psychedelia, sometimes a mandolin. the vocals are homespun with harmonies for emphasis.
