driftwood soldier - scavenger's joy

driftwood soldier is mandolin/bass duo from philadelphia. they manage to make the most out of that seemingly sparse arrangement through tight musicianship and some heavy songwriting chops.

their new album is called 'scavenger's joy'. the songs within are americana-type story songs, full of back-alley bluesy vibes. the production is fleshed out a little bit for the album with some percussion, strings, piano and a few guitar solos, setting the stage for the singer's gravelly baritone. some of the songs feature a fast-singing almost 'folk-rapping' vocal style.
