cloacas is folk band from santa fe, new mexico. their music blends global influences and weird instrumentation to create high energy instrumental stomps and reels.
their self-description on bandcamp says they compose 'the imagined folk music of a fictional country', which upon first reading i have to admit made me skeptical. after listening to a few track from their new record '...and the skies are not cloudy all day', i found that to be the perfect way to describe their sound. just check out the high-speed, east-meets-west, vibra-slap breakdowns in 'playing in traffic', or the latin dread of 'tequila mockingbottle' and you will see what i (and they) mean.
get it here.
