matt marble is a portland, oregon based musician. his latest album is a collection of solo guitar improvisations called 'twilights'. each piece on this album was recorded live in the twilight hours, near an open window. the ambient sounds of an urban neighborhood break in at times, during lulls in the guitar playing. the music has a mystical vibe, and to make a long story short, i believe it was based to some degree on meditations on ancient geometrical magics and alchemical sciences.
the song titles are place names from the choctaw language. the playing itself has a rhythmic, almost clawhammer-esque feel. the result is a collection of beautiful recordings that are worth a few spins.
