new york musician n. penston creates instrumental music rich enough to be a movie soundtrack but that is also some mutant form of rock'n'roll on its own. he uses a wide (very wide) variety of instruments, beat machines, and tones to build intricate layers of melody and harmony.
influences from folk to classical music to prog-rock and even hip-hop can be heard in these wide-ranging compositions. this music is extremely singular in its vision, but it remains accessible. i recommend checking it out, as this is one of those cases where it's hard for me to nail down the description.
